Journal of Development and Policy Research, Volume I / XXII(Sept.)
Under the project, CSO Watchdog: strengthening transparency, accountability and resilience in The Gambia (STAR), funded by the European Commission, TANGO, as a co-implementer, will publish a peer-reviewed journal. The goal of this publication is to address policies by analyzing current development interventions and making recommendations. The objectives of this peer-reviewed journal are:
- To enhance the capacity of CSOs/NGOs on research and evidence-based reporting to promote transparency and accountability.
- To establish a functionally effective CSO/NGO platform centered on evidence-based advocacy.
- To establish a baseline on the progress of the NDP with reference to education, climate change, gender and youth empowerment, and peace-building.
Therefore, development practitioners, scholars, experts, writers, and analysts are all invited to submit an Abstract of not more than 500 words. The Abstract should include a title, problem statement, purpose of the article and the method to be used in the production of the article.
Accepted authors will first be invited to a conference where they will present their first draft in front of a team of peer-reviewed experts. After they have successfully presented their work and followed through the subsequent steps recommended by the peer-review experts, they will be remunerated and their work will be published in the journal. For this first Edition, we wish to explore four thematic areas: Education, Climate change, Women and youth empowerment, and Peacebuilding. Examples of areas to explore include:
- The impacts of Covid19 on the education system
- The problem of school dropout and retention
- Climate change adaptation and resilience
- Climate change and vulnerability of rural communities
- Environment and natural resources management
- Transitional justice and peace
