COMMUNITY RADIO PROGRAM ON THE NDP AND ITS SUCCESSOR IN THE COMMUNITY RADIOS

The activity was conducted by FAWEGAM and the panelist were Regional Education Directorate, Senior Education Officer, Regional Community Development Officers and the Star Project Officer

Forum For African Women Educationalist Gambia Chapter (FAWEGAM), under the STAR project, Enhancing civil society capacity for increased participation in the implementation of the NDP in the Gambia Conducted a radio program on NDP and its successor.

The activity was held on 11th to 15th April, 2022 in four community radios namely: Brikama FMB Community Radio in West Coast Region, Soma Community Radio LRR, Brikamaba Community Radio in CRR South and Taxi FM Radio Basse in the URR.

FAWEGAM shall perform the following Activities towards the achievement of the corresponding outputs;

Conduct one-hour air time radio program in each of the six regional community radio to facilitate information dissemination about the existence of the STAR project to a wider audience.

On the radio programs, the discussions were centered on sensitizing the general public on the existence of the “STAR” project. A panel of 3 members were drawn from the Target groups to moderate the radio programs in the regions among which were; Regional Education Directorate, Senior Education Officers, Regional Community Development Officers and the Star project officers.

The content of the sensitization program was:

  • Background information on the EU Watch Dog “STAR” Program in the Gambia
  • Funding and implementing partners
  • Program overall and specific objectives
  • Program expected results
  • Consortium project: enhancing civil society capacity for increased participation in the implementation of the NDP and its successor in the Gambia
  • Project special focus areas
  • Project objectives
  • Stakeholders in the project implementation and their roles in the project implementation
  • Target groups to be engaged in the action implementation
  • Project final beneficiaries
  • Project activities
  • Project budget and duration
